Firstly, thank you all for your support again this year. After what has been a lovely summer, but a difficult growing season. Unfortunately, Kev and I could not be here, but Brigham’s determination to keep the “show” on the road proved to be a huge success. The feedback from the “A” team was that everyone enjoyed themselves.
A big thank you to everyone that came together to ensure everything was in place for the day of the show.
Special thanks to the Judges and their helpers.
Joan, Anne, Evelyn for providing yet again very special teas.
To all who contributed to the raffle.
Roger for taking charge of the money. Peter Walker for collecting money. Also, Robert Walker for (what I am told) was an entertaining auction.
To all who entered any of the classes.
It was especially pleasing to see entries from children. We will put something new on next year’s schedule for them.
I’m sure as always there were lots of people in the background helping out.
Thank you all for your generous efforts, resulting in us being able to support local charities.
The Cairn money is for new plants, soil improver to give the bed a face lift! If anyone needs clarification regarding the money distribution don’t hesitate to contact us, 07900901448.
A few photos of the show are included below. We really hope the show is now firmly on the village calendar.

The Great Village Clean Up!
SPRING - DATE TBA
The annual clean-up of the roadside verges and the riverside walk.
Not a glamorous event, but certainly necessary and a fun day out for all that give up their time to keep the village and the roadside verges free of litter.
All equipment is provided by the BCDT.
-

Common Riding
DATE TBA
The annual 'Riding of the Boundaries' symbolises the practice of patrolling the town borders to protect against reiving throughout the 13th and 14th centuries. Many of the festivals also commemorate the men who gave their lives in the battle of Flodden in 1513.
The Riding’s visit to Birgham is one of the most anticipated village events, when the horses and riders early evening visit. In the past heralded by pipers and a contingent from the Coldstream Guards. Their visit is celebrated in the field opposite the pub.
Come and join us and help keep this great Borders tradition alive.

Spooky Ghost Walk

Scary and fun in equal measures - suitable for young and old alike.
Check out the BCDT Facebook page and the Latest News section of this website closer to the date for details of where and when to meet up.
